Creativity, is a search. Keep on searching, until you find something new and interesting.
Search is the key to originality. While trying to solve a problem, do not be afraid to find a hundred answers, sketches and images. When you will think you have found the right answer, discard it and start all over again.
Do not stop looking and never fall in love with your first sketches, as later discoveries will be much greater.
To collect beautiful colors, fiddle known geometric shapes, write in stolen fonts – is the most favorite designers occupation. Thinking is not his first love. Think!
The designer’s creative process is like collecting. We write fonts which we did not develop, we form in geometric shapes which are already known, we use color palettes and from following items we create images. Although the collective process of graphics is creativity, your first priority should be given to thinking.
Know what you want to say
The creator must look for a story, its characters, graphics symbols, typography and
aesthetics of color. Although visual statement is the first message, which is read by the user, remember, that image without a story is only the half of the job that needs to be done.
No matter what problem we are trying to solve, we have to greet it with a logic approach, analysis and rationality.
Designer is a creator, however, he is not a painter. Designers do not have the need to wait until the muse visits them in their divine enlightenment. We solve problems and respond to the questions, we reason our decision based on logical thinking, we analyze the creative direction and choose a rational decision.
Your audience sees trillions of images. If you want to communicate, you have to become the spectator, watch from the side.
Contemporary viewer, is used to see more than the ones yesterday. Every day, we experience more and more advertising, we see more images which capture our eye attention. We live in an era of images, which makes it harder for the picture to capture viewer’s attention. Pay attention to your audience, because it is they who will live with your creation. Become a part of the audience, become a spectator, understand and feel the language in which they want you to hear you.
We grew up in the commercial world in which graphic design helps to sell products and services. But commerce is not the only creative direction.
Have fun along the way. Actually, we don’t really believe you can make something great without being in love with it. Loving our work is our reason for being.
All I hear, I say, I see, I write or create can be a terrible wrong.
Correct answers do not exist in creative work. True or false, good or bad – let the audience decide. Trust your instincts. Forget perfectionism and hesitation. Make a decision, and let our claims to be interpret by the viewers themselves.
